    Vennelakanti Rajeswara Prasad, the Telugu lyricist and writer, died of a cardiac arrest on Tuesday night at his residence in Chennai. He was 63.

    Vennelakanti wrote the lyrics to over 2,000 songs, as well as the scripts of several Tamil films for dubbing in Telugu.

    Some of his most notable lyrics were in films like Murali Krishnudu (1988), Aditya 369 (1991), One By Two (1993), Seenu (1999), Bhalevadivi Basu (2001), Mitrudu (2009), Vastadu Naa Raju (2011), Raaj (2011), and Penguin (2020).

    His dubbing work includes scripts for Panchathantiram (2002), Magic Magic 3D (2003), Prema Chadhurangam (2004, dubbed version of Tamil film Chellame), Saroja (2008), Manmadha Baanam (2010, dubbed version of Tamil film Manmadhan Ambu), and Prema Khaidi (2011, dubbed version of Tamil film Mynaa).
